I don’t usually post on consecutive days, but something has just popped up in my YouTube recommendations that I can’t resist sharing with you. But first, a bit of background. Around three months ago I played one of my New Music sets, in which I included a newly released song by Bryan Adams. To save you looking for it, this was that tune:
Bryan Adams released 51st State as a single on 1 July, with this lyric video to accompany it. In just under four months it has been viewed 875,000 times and has 28,000 likes. The comments section is incredibly supportive, and not just from Canadians – there are many Americans in there too, expressing their support for Canada and their shame at what their so-called president is doing in their name. If only he could be persuaded to shut up and do the job he is supposed to be doing, without offending just about every other nation on earth.
Bryan has released another new song today. He is a proud Canadian, and is venting his anger at Trump through his music. This is the new one, Lake Ontario, which I think is even better than the first:
That one came out earlier today, and I hope it goes on to pick up similar viewing figures. Bryan is a musician using his art to make a very strong political point, and the lyrics of this are bitingly accurate. And it is a good listen too. There are many around the world – not just in Canada – who will relate to this, as apart from in his own mind the narcissistic megalomaniac doesn’t have much support for his actions. Any of them! I just hope the midterms deal him a massive blow next week, and not the kind he probably got in Moscow on the tapes Putin must be holding over him.
Apologies for dropping this one on you, but you can probably see why I wanted to share it as soon as I could!
See you again on Friday, for a politics-free post 🤫
